True story: I got all the way to college not knowing that my job was a job.
That being said, I always knew I wanted to be in advertising. I would judge all kinds of ads, tweaking them in my brain until I thought they were funnier and/or more effective. My mom noticed, too, and told me that I needed to be in PR – she’s cute. She didn’t know what a copywriter was either. So anyway, I got to college thinking I was gonna dominate this PR thing (thanks mom!).
Thankfully I had a very special professor with a wee bit of history in the ad biz. We called him Ad Dad, but to the rest of the world, he goes by Bill Tyler... or 'William' if he's feeling fancy. You can see where this is going so I'll spare the details, but it's because of him and all the wonderful and supportive people I've met along the way that I now get to call myself a copywriter. Not a PR...person? Agent? Disaster? Whatever it is, I'm not.
Please take a look around if you feel so inclined. I look forward to updating this site with fresh, new work as I continue my career in the great / frustrating / beautiful / confusing / fabulous world of advertising.
